They originally manufactured only melodeons, but in 1855 introduced the organ-harmonium. Overall, this piano is incredible, made to a very high standard. This is where the Mason & Hamlin company began as an organ manufacturer. Mason & Hamlin was founded in Boston, Massachusetts in 1854 by Henry Mason, son of Lowell Mason, the American hymn composer and musical educator, and Emmons Hamlin, a mechanic and inventor who had worked for melodeon makers Prince & Co. The voicing and tuning is all done as well! Also, this pianos finish is all original to 1970. It is thoroughly clean, the action is tight, lubricated and aligned. A little about this piano: To begin with, all the work on this piano is on the guts. The 1970 Mason and Hamlin BB piano is recognized as one of the best pianos in the world! It’s very comparable to Steinway.
